Behind every successful organization is a group of visionary leaders who guide its mission, strategy, and values. Our board members bring a wealth of expertise, dedication, and diverse perspectives to the table, ensuring that Childcare Resources thrives and stays true to its goals.
We’re thrilled to continue this blog series showcasing our outstanding Board Members, whose dedication to our community and neighbors reflects the core values driving our mission. Next up, we’re featuring our 2025 Board Vice Chair— Lauren Leach!

Get to know Lauren.
I've been a proud Board Member at Childcare Resources for three years. Professionally, I serve as the AVP for Planning and Population Health at UAB Medicine. Outside of work, I’m a wife and a busy mom to two energetic boys who keep me on my toes with sports and activities. As a family, we love serving and attending Homewood Community Church, which is a big part of our lives.

How did you get involved with Childcare Resources?
I first got involved with Childcare Resources as a Junior Board member when I was facing my own challenges in finding child care. That experience made me realize how important it is to support families in securing high-quality child care, and I knew I wanted to make a difference for others navigating the same challenges.
Why do you think having quality child care is important?Â
As a working parent, nothing is more important that knowing that your children are safe and nurtured during the day. Beyond that, I have experienced what high quality child care provides for my child: amazing education, social skills, and a love for learning. These things are so valuable to their development and readiness for school
What is your favorite service or program provided by
Childcare Resources?
I love the Fairy Tale Ball! My kids are so excited each year to attend and I really do enjoy having a fun event that I can take my kids to while also enjoying it myself. It combines all the best things: food, music, dancing, kid activities, and supporting a great cause!
Why would you recommend someone to get involved with
Childcare Resources?Â

"I think Childcare Resources is a great organization for someone to get involved with because the mission is clear, the staff is supportive, and the agency makes a huge difference in the lives of the community. It is easy to support an organization that is just doing it right!"
What do you hope to see in the future of child care?
I have so many hopes for child care! I want to see it be more affordable and accessible. I want families to not have to choose between a career and child care due to cost or concern. I want every family to feel the security and love that our family has experienced!
