Fairy Tale Ball Raises Over $130,000 for Families in Central Alabama

Protective Life Corporation Receives the Annual Christopher Sign Award of Distinction

Celebrating the 16th anniversary of a beloved community event, generous supporters, volunteers, and community leaders gathered for Childcare Resources’ Fairy Tale Ball on Saturday, August 27, 2022. This annual event generates valuable dollars each year to support Childcare Resources, a local non-profit organization and United Way of Central Alabama partner agency that provides information, education, and assistance to children, families, and providers of child care in our community.

Philanthropic-minded guests made memories with their families to last a lifetime, raising more than $130,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales, donations, and an incredible silent auction. Throughout the event’s history, over one million dollars have been raised, providing thousands of families with high-quality early care and education resources they otherwise may not have been able to receive.

“The proceeds from Childcare Resources’ Fairy Tale Ball will have a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of families who turn to us each year for support.”

“The proceeds from Childcare Resources’ Fairy Tale Ball will have a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of families who turn to us each year for support,” said Joan Wright, Executive Director of Childcare Resources. “Last year, more than 111 children were enrolled in our Supplemental Child Care Program, which offsets a portion of child care costs for working families in our community. The dollars raised through this year’s event allow us to continue offering support for families, ensuring that their children have access to high-quality early education opportunities.”

Childcare Resources recognized Protective Life Corporation for its loyal support of Central Alabama families with the Christopher Sign Award of Distinction, named to honor Christopher Sign, the late TV news anchor, his legacy, and his passion for early education support accomplished by the Fairy Tale Ball each year. The Christopher Sign Award of Distinction was presented to Protective Life Corporation during the event and was accepted by Mike Rebholz, Vice President, Operations at Protective Life and Childcare Resources’ Board Member.

Each year, this event creates partnerships for generous community organizations like Protective Life and provides the opportunity for guests to make memories to last a lifetime while learning about the agency’s important mission. These partnerships further Childcare Resources’ critical work to provide a strong academic start for young children across Central Alabama.

Generous community partners who contributed to the success of Childcare Resources’ 2022 Fairy Tale Ball include: ABC 33/40, This Is Alabama, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, GrowthDay, McWane, Inc., Protective Life, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Prophouse Birmingham, Spoiled Rotten Photography, Encore Special Events, XVI, and more.
