Faces Behind the Mission: Tonya Jones

Being responsible for two nonprofit programs is no small feat—it takes continuous dedication, countless hours, and a team of passionate individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring a vision to life. That's why we are so proud to shine the spotlight on Tonya Jones, our outstanding Director of Head Start.

This September marked four years that Tonya has been with Childcare Resources and her dedication and leadership has played a vital role in making our Head Start and Early Head Start programs run smoothly and efficiently, providing children and families with the tools they need to succeed while meeting global standards! Learn more about Tonya and all she does below!

Tell us a little bit about what you do at Childcare Resources.

I am responsible for overseeing the complete operation of Childcare Resource's Head Start and Early Head Start programs. While this requires a lot of work and oversight, I love that I get to work with our partners in a collaborative model to ensure quality care and education is being received according to the Head Start standards.

When you aren't managing our 13 Head Start programs, what can we find you doing?

I love staying active, whether it’s working in the yard or hitting the gym. Both activities are my way of recharging and staying grounded when work and personal life get busy. I also love going to Zumba classes, doing dot paintings, and completing puzzles in my spare time!

What is something that we should know about you?

Well I have a twin brother which is fun! Also I am originally from Colorado. Other than that, only thing you need to know is I am an incredibly proud mother to two amazing boys!

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? ....and where are you taking us to eat?!

I love soul food, Chinese food, Mexican food...well, honestly, just food in general! Living in Birmingham where there are so many fantastic options for each of these, you really can't go wrong choosing a place to eat!
